Robert Half International Purchasing Agent in JOLIET, Illinois
The Procurement Agent is responsible for determining and purchasing goods that the organization requires. They work with other parts of the organization to forecast demand, manage/evaluate inventory levels, and take orders from within the organization. They negotiate directly with vendors to get the best possible pricing and payment options. They also do cost management to identify areas of potential cost reduction and analyze the impact of pricing changes for goods and services. They assist in the receipt of purchased materials, services, and keep detailed records of purchases and stocks. They carefully monitor deliveries and any past due shipments.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Lead strategic and tactical procurement for inventory needs
Work with Sales, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Operations, and Finance to resolve supply issues
Lead and participate in Sales and Inventory management process
Utilize ERP system to improve existing procedures for tracking inbound and outbound materials
Maintain and improve inventory turn and service level goals as well as other KPI's using history, sales plans, vendor criteria, and market trends
Maintain and manage vendor relationships
Establish and monitor minimum/maximum inventory levels for raw materials and finished goods
Research and resolve product and/or receiving discrepancies
Assist with inventory control to review, reduce, and eliminate any obsolete materials
Perform other related duties as assigned
3+ years in an inventory procurement, management, planning type role
Must possess planning, organizational and time management skills, as well as a strong understanding of supply chain and analytical problem-solving skills
Computer skills, Excel experience mandatory
Outstanding analytical, planning, problem solving and organizational skills
Be very proactive with a keen intuition for detecting potential issues before they arise
Effectively manage competing demands, able to self-manage multiple tasks
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and familiar with G Suite
Advanced written and verbal communication skills (bilingual a plus)
