Description We are inviting applications for the role of Staff Accountant within the healthcare industry, based in Kalamazoo, Michigan. This role will focus on maintaining the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts in a social assistance environment. The selected candidate will be responsible for processing various financial transactions and providing support for multiple financial processes.

Responsibilities:

• Uphold the integrity of the general ledger and balance sheet accounts

• Generate and input journal entries related to monthly business activities supported by appropriate documentation

• Handle incoming payments through check, credit card, and EFT

• Contribute to cash forecasting and daily cash management tasks

• Supervise the commercial card program including issuance of credit cards, limit assignment, and termination of cards

• Record and reconcile all ledger transactions in various software

• Provide backup support for payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable

• Conduct internal audit of processes, procedures, and practices of the Finance Department

• Maintain the confidentiality of all restricted information, data, and reports

• Complete all other tasks as assigned within the scope of the role

• Utilize skills in GAAP Accounting, US GAAP, and General Ledger management. Requirements • Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience in the role of Staff Accountant or similar accounting roles within the healthcare, hospitals, or social assistance industry.

• Extensive knowledge and understanding of GAAP Accounting and US GAAP are required.

• Proficiency in managing General Ledger accounts is essential.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are crucial.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and other related computer applications is required.

• Candidates must have strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team is essential.

• Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions are crucial.

• Must adhere to professional ethics and demonstrate a high level of integrity.

• Must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with various departments and levels of management.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information is vital.

• Must have a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
