Robert Half Staff Accountant in KALAMAZOO, Michigan

Description If you're interested in becoming a critical part of an innovative Real Estate Property/Facilities Mgt company, Robert Half has an opportunity for a full-time Staff Accountant. To be successful, challenges and multiple moving components should excite candidates. This Staff Accountant role's duties will require preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. This role will involve internal reporting during the monthly close, participation in compliance, interaction with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and reviewing schedules reporting processes. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area, at a company where effort is rewarded. Your responsibilities

  • Impromptu reporting and special projects, when requested

  • Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation

  • Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks

  • Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management

  • Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable

  • Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision

  • Periodic maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries

  • Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation

  • Maintain, implement, and adhere to internal controls while ensuring that accounting procedures comply with GAAP

  • Produce complex journal entries and account reconciliations which include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll

  • Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives

  • In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts

  • Manage schedules for capital lease and monthly payments Requirements - BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Current and relevant ERP system experience

  • Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

  • Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

  • Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement

  • 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Credit Card Receipts experience desired

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Journal entries experience preferred

  • Adeptness in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

  • Accounts Payable (AP) experience

  • Accounts Receivable (AR) experience

  • Financial statement preparation experience highly desired
