Description We are in search of a meticulous Controller to oversee the General Accounting, Internal Controls, and Financial Reporting functions for our food and food processing enterprise based in Kankakee, Illinois. This role involves implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls to safeguard all company assets, ensuring all financial activities are GAAP compliant and adhere to corporate policies.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee accounting operations and manage all month/year-end close activities, including preparing and reviewing financial statements, journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and variance analysis.
• Prepare key financial indicators, identify trends, and provide insights to drive business decisions.
• Report Net Working Capital inclusive of inventory, receivables/collections, and payables.
• Facilitate internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing audit findings.
• Ensure deliverables and timelines are achieved while multitasking.
• Support CFO in bank compliance deliverables and requests.
• Lead the development and implementation of internal documentation relating to core deliverables, inventory, projects, and standards.
• Ensure policies and procedures are in place and are being followed.
• Validate and design suggested changes to the ERP environment to ensure accounting requirements continue to be met.
• Responsible for process mapping and implementing audit recommendations.
• Assist in financial statement preparation, analysis of accounts and comparisons; ensure all individual and consolidated financial statements are accurate and timely.
• Provide in-depth understanding of results and variances to budget, forecast, and prior year.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret financial and operating data.
• Assist in the preparation of annual budget and interim forecasts.
• Manage external financial audits and related PBC requirements.
• Lead federal, state, and local income tax preparation, and administrative tax support. Requirements
• Must have at least 2 years of experience in a Controller role within Manufacturing, Food would be a plus
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Solutions
• Familiarity with ADP - Financial Services
• Knowledge of Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) standards
• Experience in overseeing various accounting functions such as Accounts Payable (AP), and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Proven track record in auditing, including Audit - Financial
• Demonstrable experience in Budget Processes
• Background in manufacturing and food production
• Experience in Consolidated Financial Statements
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation
