Description
We are in search of a meticulous and analytical Accounting Clerk to join our team based in Kansas City, Missouri. In this role, you will be expected to leverage your knowledge of actuarial analysis and advanced mathematics to support the company's health and life insurance pricing and product evaluation activities. This role is well-suited for individuals who possess a strong ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely. Responsibilities:
• Coordinate and communicate health and life insurance pricing and product evaluation activities with actuarial consultants
• Prepare actuarial memoranda and rate filing documents for pricing actuaries to review
• Assist with state rate filings and responses to state objection letters
• Maintain records of rate and actuarial material filings and conditions of approval
• Ensure rate related documents are organized and saved in the department’s electronic product folders
• Build, modify, and test rate calculators and spreadsheets
• Assist with coordinating the development and implementation of quoting software and other tools
• Research and document state insurance department rate filing requirements
• Prioritize assigned projects and deadlines
• Provide regular updates on the status of assigned tasks to the management
• Use Microsoft Excel and other software tools efficiently to perform tasks and solve problems
Skills required:
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, including Word and Excel
• Excellent organization, math, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills with customer service orientation
• Strong research skills (search, investigation, and critical analysis)
• Experience with researching state rate filing and compliance requirements
• Can identify the key components of actuarial memorandums for life and supplemental health insurance products
• Self-Motivated/Self-Starter
• Detailed, Accurate, and Efficient
• Successfully interacts with external clients and internal departments at all organizational levels
• Capability to see projects in totality and ensure team-oriented success in a complete and timely manner.
Requirements • Possesses a minimum of three years of experience in an Accounting Clerk role or similar position
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel with the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets
• Demonstrates strong skills in actuarial analysis and advanced mathematics
• Experienced in drafting and interpreting memoranda relating to financial data and reports
• Exhibits strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and make recommendations
• Holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
• Familiar with accounting software and systems
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
