Robert Half Accounts Payable Supervisor/Manager in KANSAS CITY, Missouri

The Accounts Payable / Manager will oversee Accounts Payable functional group with Adherence to Firm policies and procedures. This position will also ensure effective system for disbursing timely payments and maintaining accurate and proper controls. Successful candidates will have 5 years or more of Accounts Payable experience (preferably in a large firm setting) and a positive attitude. Must have high attention to detail, efficient, good customer service skills, ability to solve problems, strong organizational skills and be willing to work as part of a team and independently. Your responsibilities in this role: Understand and apply Accounts Payable processes, policies, procedures, and internal control standards. Ensures an effective system for disbursing timely payments and maintaining accurate and proper controls. Review and process vendor invoices and payments; research and follow-up on vendor statements & provide vendor file maintenance. Supports upper management in critical, and confidential items in relation to Account Payable processing payments Process client trust disbursements. Process foreign vendor payments. Support sales and use tax review and 1099 reporting. Thorough knowledge of Elite FMS System, Chrome River Expense & Invoice System, and Online Banking Websites. Technical Lead in regard to managing core systems such a Chrome River, and Elite able to make critical decisions in maintaining these systems for support firm wide. Support system implementations, testing and upgrades. Competent in various applications such as Elite, Chrome River, Legal Key, DM5, Microsoft Word and Excel and miscellaneous bank websites. Evaluate, suggest improvements and implement changes to processes/procedures that would increase efficiencies, accuracy, and timeliness and improve customer service within the department. Work with stakeholders to ensure timelines, priorities and deliveries meet expectations. Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, committed and strong work ethic, attention to accuracy and detail and the ability to multitask. Acts as the primary contact in the absence of the Accounting Manager and in a backup capacity to accounts payable team members. Lead role and makes critical decisions in special projects as requested. Lead audit requests as needed. Primary and decision maker in the absence of the Accounting Manager and provides supervision to the AP associates in relation to job functions. Responsible for the hiring of new Accounts Payable employees and the performance management of current employees. Writes annual performance reviews for direct reports and assists Accounting Manager with team reviews. Responsible for approving timecards and PTO requests for direct reports.
