Melissa Tree with Robert Half Finance and Accounting has a HRIS position opening in Kapolei. We are looking for the HRIS candidate to have payroll experience with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, proven ability to proactively respond to employee inquiries, solution focused in identifying data integrity and system improvements, ability to build and maintain HR spreadsheets and workflow procedures. Must be customer service orientated. Ideal candidate must be able to establish priorities under tight deadlines and have a proven track record as a motivated, self‐starter who can work on multiple projects and priorities within a fast‐paced environment.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Prepare and process payroll for 90+ employees on a weekly basis and payroll for 130 employees (bi‐weekly) as directed. Ensure that payroll computing, withholding and deductions are done correctly. Verify pay rates and ensure supervisor timesheet approvals are correct. Set‐up and maintain employee work schedules (salaried and hourly). Process payroll manual checks for employees and special pay runs.

  • Payroll Administrative Functions: interface regularly with Ceridian on a variety of payroll issues, maintain employee HRIS (position title, pay rates, leave administration, coronavirus and disability administration, union dues reports, weekly call‐out schedule, lost time monthly reports and other information as required). Prepare quarterly employment reports (DOL BLSA, Worksite information). Manage garnishment, lien and other payroll deductions as required by law. Process special payrolls including the annual bonus and year‐end adjustment payrolls.

  • Respond to employment verification requests.

  • Manage Meal Card, Service Awards, Above and Beyond programs, I‐9 Audit Administration, Annual Flu Shots,

  • Random Drug Testing Program and Workplace Ergonomics.

  • Handle employment‐related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.

  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.

  • Maintenance of HR Website and Bulletin Boards.

  • Assist with annual Affirmative Action data collection and reporting.

  • Assist with routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; talent management and career fairs; productivity, recognition and achievement and training and development.

  • Assist Finance with payroll audits.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five years of progressive experience as an HR Generalist or HR Specialist. Must have specific experience in HRIS payroll and benefits administration and HR compliance.

  • Must uphold company values of: Aloha, Lokahi, Ho’ohana and Kina’ole.

  • Proactive and solution focused with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications.

  • Highly organized with proven ability to pivot with changing demands and deadlines.

  • Knowledge of Hawaii wage and hour laws.

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office Products such as Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.

  • This position is considered safety sensitive.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience processing complex pay calculations for Union represented employees

  • Manufacturing, Engineering and/or Retail industry background

  • SHRM‐CP or PHR certification.
