The Controller position is a full-time opportunity in the Lafayette, Indiana region. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Major responsibilities

  • Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Reviews deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis Requirements - Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Vow to meet business deadlines

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills highly desired

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Strong familiarity with budget forecasting

  • General familiarity with Microsoft Excel

  • Adeptness in capital assets

  • Demonstrated knowledge of bank relations

  • Practical knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning

  • Budgeting experience

  • Financial reporting experience desired

  • Foundational knowledge in month end closings

  • Consolidated Financial Statements experience

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
