You might be the Controller Robert Half is looking for, if you want to take responsibility for the accounting and clerical department of a successful company. Based in the Lakeport, California area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. You might be a good fit for this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Major responsibilities

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet client expectations

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Oversee the activities of the finance department, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

    Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • Outstanding technology, analytics and management experience required

  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field is required

  • Sound written and verbal communication skills

  • Great attention to detail

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Controllership Functions experience preferred

  • Microsoft Office experience

  • QuickBooks experience

  • Deep understanding of Microsoft Excel

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Controllership

  • Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
