Robert Half Patient Care Coordinator in Lakewood, New Jersey

Description We are seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to join our team in Lakewood, New Jersey. This role involves performing a range of administrative and secretarial duties to ensure the highest level of patient care and customer service. The role will primarily revolve around processing patient information, handling referrals, and maintaining medical records.

Responsibilities:

• Manage patient queries via phone and in person, ensuring prompt and courteous responses

• Verify insurance coverage and execute referral documentation in a timely manner

• Undertake the collection of co-pays and any outstanding balances

• Maintain an updated record of patient information such as name, address, and insurance information

• Schedule and confirm patient appointments, including specialist and follow-up meetings

• Handle patient paperwork such as insurance verifications and authorizations for procedures, keeping communication clear with hospitals and surgical centers

• Adhere to medical confidentiality and HIPAA requirements in maintaining patient records

• Work collaboratively with team members to achieve specific goals

• Stay updated on current medical requirements relevant to the position

• Provide follow-up services for patients including obtaining copies of lab results or specialist reports. Requirements • Demonstrated proficiency in customer service and communication skills

• Proven ability to handle documentation procedures efficiently

• Experience in answering inbound calls and scheduling appointments

• Knowledge of insurance and medical coverage policies

• Ability to carry out receptionist duties and manage paperwork

• Strict adherence to confidentiality protocols

• Proficiency in scanning documents and managing medical records

• Experience with processing referrals in a HIPAA-regulated environment

• Ability to handle authorizations and manage copays effectively

• Basic computer skills are mandatory

• Familiarity with medical terminology and medical office procedures

• Experience in verifying insurance and surgical skills is advantageous

• Ability to conduct all duties in a courteous manner.
