Description Robert Half has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Human Resources detail oriented! Working with one of our long-time clients, Robert Half is seeking an HR Assistant Director for an organization in the 'Higher Learning' industry. Work with dynamic professionals and assist the team with your expertise in HR, labor relations, and Collective Bargaining Agreements. This organization is local to the Lakewood/Tacoma area, and it is primarily in-office (hybrid work schedules may be available). Responsibilities: 1. Partners with management to develop, maintain and enhance employee relations. 2. Provides advice and consultation to managers, supervisors and employees regarding labor and employee relations including performance management, corrective action, discipline, contract and policy interpretation and compliance. 3. Ensures compliance with local, state and federal employment and labor laws. 4. Applies principles of sound personnel management. 5. Manages grievance and complaint resolution processes. 6. Administers Collective Bargaining Agreements for the four employee unions on campus and provides input for future negotiations. 7. Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of the Human Resources staff under the direction of the AVP of Human Resources. 8. Supports the achievement of the Human Resources Department's priorities, objectives and strategies in line with the College’s Core Themes and Scorecard. 9. Works with the team to manage, negotiate union contracts and establish relationships with four different employee unions on campus. 10. Assists with benefits administration, compensation analysis, new hires, recruiting and on-boarding.

The Assistant Director of Human Resources is a critical role that requires one to navigate complex labor relations while ensuring a healthy and productive workplace for all employees. The successful candidate will be experienced, proactive, and people-oriented, with a deep understanding of the principles of sound personnel management.

The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $110,000. BENEFITS INFO: Benefits available with this position include medical, dental and vision; life and disability insurances; participation in the company’s 401(k) plan matches dollar for dollar, up to a 5% match with a steady growth - all the way up to a 10% match! As well, enjoy 6 weeks of paid vacation yearly, 1 week of paid sick leave, and 10 paid holidays per calendar year! Requirements Requirements: 1. Proven experience in a human resources position, preferably in a unionized environment. 2. Knowledge and experience in collective bargaining, negotiating, and compensation review and analysis - required. 3. Understanding and practical application of local, state and federal employment and labor laws. 4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 5. Strong leadership abilities and experience supervising a team. 6. Ability to form and maintain positive relationships with unions. 7. Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required. Master's degree or relevant certification is preferred.
