Robert Half Accounting Assistant in Lancaster, Pennsylvania

Description

We are offering an opportunity for an Accounting Assistant in the Non-Profit sector, located in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The selected candidate will be integral in handling various accounting tasks, particularly in relation to staff travel, training, and operating costs. This role offers a long term opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Processing check requests associated with staff travel, training, and operating costs

• Conducting pre-audits of invoices to ensure accurate and approved information before submission

• Checking fund availability in accounts prior to requesting payment

• Contacting vendors for quotes or pricing in accordance with Purchasing guidelines

• Researching prices for supplies, equipment, etc. as needed

• Preparing requisitions in PeopleSoft with careful attention to details like contract numbers, quote or bid numbers, cost centers, account codes, among others

• Demonstrating knowledge of basic accounting principles

• Using computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and Access) for various tasks

• Working independently and making sound fiscal judgments

• Processing purchase requisitions, creating and preparing purchase orders, and managing accounts payable and receivable.

Requirements • Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Ability to create, prepare and process purchase requisitions

• Familiarity with handling purchase orders

• Knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Excel

• Proficient in using Excel Formulas for accounting tasks

• Experience in a non-profit environment would be beneficial

• Demonstrable understanding of general accounting principles

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred

• Prior experience as an Accounting Assistant or relevant role is advantageous

• Knowledge of accounting software is a plus.
