Description

Robert Half has an opportunity for a Controller to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department. Based in the Lancaster, Pennsylvania area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. If you can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, and are a creative type who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo, you might be right for this position.

Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective

  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports

  • Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management

  • Advance Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed, with research, planning and implementation

  • Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

    Requirements

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Prior leadership experience including daily supervision, training and evaluation of a team

  • Technical proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ability to learn internal systems

  • Prior non-profit industry experience preferred
