Robert Half Project Accountant in Lanham, Maryland

Description

We are seeking a Project Accountant to join our team. In this role, you will oversee financial operations related to specific projects in line with accounting principles and company policies. You will prepare financial reports, analyze project costs, and collaborate with project managers to ensure the financial success and integrity of projects.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting functions for assigned projects, including budget preparation, financial forecasting, and reporting.

• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.

• Collaborate with project managers to establish and monitor project budgets and financial performance.

• Generate regular financial reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.

• Analyze project costs and profitability, identifying trends and discrepancies.

• Manage the controlling and financial reporting of projects in accordance with internal control rules.

• Work closely with project teams, providing financial insights to support decision-making.

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in project accounting.

• Mentor and train junior accounting staff, providing guidance and support in project accounting practices.

• Assist in the development of accounting policies and procedures related to project management.

Requirements • Possession of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Accounting role

• Proficiency in Sage 300 software is essential

• Thorough understanding and application of GAAP Accounting principles

• Familiarity and experience with ASC 606 standard

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory
