Robert Half Financial Planning & Analysis Manager in Lansing, Michigan

Description

Robert Half is partnering with one of their clients on their recruitment efforts to find a full-time, direct hire Manager of Finance & Planning. We are seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis Manager to join their organization based in Lansing, Michigan. The selected candidate will undertake key responsibilities including operating cash and investments, capital budgeting, financial analysis, and rate setting, among others. This position also includes direct supervision of a team of analysts. Must have utility industry and rate setting/analysis experience.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise team engaged in budgeting, forecasting, rate setting, and financial analysis activities.

• Develop and monitor short, mid, and long-term financial forecasts.

• Ensure development and monitoring of detailed departmental budgets.

• Report on monthly departmental operating budget results, including quarterly variance compilation and explanations.

• Conduct training for managers on departmental budgeting.

• Review the monthly planning income statement analysis and financial highlights.

• Ensure that all departmental policies and procedures are updated and accessible.

• Develop rate strategies and supervise execution of cost-of-service studies.

• Develop individual rates for new and existing customers on contractual rates.

• Conduct rate analysis and benchmarking, monitoring rate activity of other regional utilities, regulatory changes, and maintaining power supply recovery, environmental and other surcharges.

• Provide financial analysis for strategic and integrated resource planning.

Requirements

• Must possess a minimum of 7 years of experience in finance or accounting

• Previous leadership experience with strong leadership qualities and ability to manage a team is necessary

• Proficiency in Accounting Functions is required

• Experience with Budget Processes is necessary

• Familiarity with Finance is essential

• Proficiency in Budgeting and Forecasting is required

• Must have the ability to develop strategic financial plans and present them to stakeholders

• A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required; a master's degree or professional certifications are preferred
