Robert Half Staff Accountant in LAS CRUCES, New Mexico
Description If you're an experienced accountant with a knack for accuracy, Robert Half has a terrific opportunity for you to check out. In this role, you will have responsibility over the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will look over schedules for the reporting processes, participate in compliance, and keep in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging short-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity is at a Las Cruces, New Mexico based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.
What you get to do every day
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Participate in various department-wide initiatives
Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Deep understanding of variance analysis
Microsoft Excel experience required
Comprehensive knowledge of financial analysis
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Recent and relevant accounting experience
ERP system experience
Excellent attention to detail
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
