You might be the Controller Robert Half is looking for, if you want to take responsibility for the accounting and clerical department of a successful Wholesale Distribution company. The Controller will be a permanent employment opportunity and will be located in the Las Vegas, Nevada region. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every single day

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and handle daily cash management

  • Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Occasionally perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection Requirements - Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Skilled in the construction and delivery of effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Expertise in Statutory Financial Statements

  • Foundational knowledge in NetSuite

  • Microsoft Outlook experience highly desired

  • Adeptness in Annual Financial Reporting

  • Comprehension of Audited Financial Statements

  • Prepare Financial Statements experience preferred

  • General familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Prior experience with Monthly Financial Statements

  • Experience with Consolidated Financial Statements

  • Proficiency in Year-end Financial Statements

  • Adeptness in Microsoft Excel

  • Annual Audited Financial Statements experience highly valued

  • Background working with Monthly Financial Reports

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

  • Deep understanding of Month-end Reports

  • Practical knowledge of Internal Financial Reporting

  • Monthly Financial Reporting experience highly preferred

  • Earlier work involving Prepare Financial Reports

  • Experience with Month-end Financial

  • Perform Month-end experience

  • Month-end Journal Entries experience

  • Hands-on experience with financial statements consolidation

  • Month-end Close Activities experience desired

  • Practical knowledge of payroll

  • Previous experience working with Analyze Financial Statements

  • Review Financial Statements experience desired

  • Demonstrated knowledge of External Financial Reports

  • General familiarity with financial reporting

  • Good understanding of Statutory Financial Reporting

  • Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred

  • Prior experience in a public accounting environment is highly valued

  • Seizes opportunities to produce results without direct supervision
