If you're looking to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department at a successful Real Estate & Property company, Robert Half is looking for a Controller. Based in the Las Vegas, Nevada area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position. Planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff will be essential for this role. The ideal candidate for this position can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. What you get to do every single day
Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations
Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis
Support punctual cash collection by managing the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques
Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis
Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

Requirements
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Sound written and verbal communication skills
High attention to detail
Past work in technology, analytics and management experience highly valued
Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
BS in Accounting
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Adeptness in financial statement preparation
HOA experience preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of general ledger
Month end closings experience preferred
Leadership Skills experience
GAAP Accounting experience required
Solid understanding of Controllership
Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills
Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging background
