Description

Robert Half is assisting a premier Las Vegas-based hospitality company in their search for a Controller.

Key responsibilities of the position include:

  • Oversees preparations, posting and analysis of General Ledger entries.

  • Oversees the preparation and distribution of monthly financial statements for reporting entity.

  • Remain current on actual / potential changes to accounting guidance and advise management on emerging issues and disclosures.

  • Coordinate work relating to both internal and external audits in the periodic review of the company financial records. Implement agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.

  • Prepares and/or reviews journal entries and supporting documentation.

  • Schedule, train, and supervise finance team.

  • Prepares balance sheet account reconciliations of a difficult nature.

  • Arranges for and coordinates any Ad-hoc reporting as requested by management.

  • Reviews month end accruals for reporting entity.

  • Analyze financial reports and records and make recommendations relative to accounting reserves, assets, etc.

  • Key to implementing changes in accounting/reporting structure.

  • Review the general ledger for accuracy and completeness to ensure financial data is accurate, consistent and proper.

  • Ensure financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, Gaming Control Board requirements, and US GAAP.

  • Assist in the monthly/yearly forecasting and budgeting process.

  • Maintain the Account Reconciliation tracking through the BlackLine System.

  • Review risk/control matrices for internal controls over financial reporting to meet Sarbanes Oxley section 404 compliance.

  • Prepare all elimination entries related to the consolidation of the companies’ financial statements.

  • Held accountable, to a high degree, for the accuracy, confidentiality, and thoroughness of department records and reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related field.

  • 7+ years of financial and managerial accounting experience in the gaming and/or hospitality industry.

  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.

  • Proven knowledge and experience compiling financial statements utilizing US GAAP accounting principles.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and lookups) and other financial reporting systems.

  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and create financial reports.

  • Strong working knowledge of operational environment.

  • Ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.

  • Demonstrate organizational skills to function effectively while still maintaining attention to detail and meeting established deadlines.

  • Ability to lead and mentor a team.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
