Adam Wood with Robert Half Finance and Accounting is assisting a privately owned multifamily developer and commercial real estate investment management group with their search for a sharp/ technically strong Senior Accountant to join the team.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our accounting team. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing various accounting functions, ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting to owners and management across departments. This role also involves reviewing cash flow, ensuring consistency in reporting, training and supporting staff on financial preparation, and providing overall support to the accounting team. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and a strong understanding of accounting principles.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare and review financial statements and consolidated reporting ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP and company policies.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Review and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness, providing insights and recommendations to owners and management across departments.
• Conduct regular cash flow reviews to monitor and manage the company’s financial liquidity.
• Ensure consistency in financial reporting, maintaining standardized procedures and formats.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal and external investors and management.
• Maintain and update fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations.
• Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective financial operations.
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
• Provide training and support to accounting staff on financial preparation, ensuring adherence to accounting principles and company policies.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, providing financial analysis and insights to support decision-making.
• Coordinate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in the preparation and review of tax filings.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Provide overall support to the accounting team, helping to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as assigned by management.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar.
• Property management accounting experience preferred
• Proficiency in carrying out Bank Reconciliations.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with the General Ledger.
• Capable of preparing accurate Journal Entries.
• Experience with Month End Close procedures.
• Familiarity with Yardi, Appfolio or RealPage is highly desirable.
• Good proficiency with MS Excel
