Robert Half is looking for an ambitious Controller to join a well-respected HVAC services company. The leadership position is responsible for an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. The permanent Controller position is situated in the League City, Texas area.

Your responsibilities

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Complete tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team

  • Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Lead the operations of the finance department which includes accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

    Requirements - Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic and constantly changing company environment

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • CPA or MBA preferred

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

  • Experience with Expense Allocation

  • Strong familiarity with pricing analysis

  • Solid understanding of Job Cost

  • Proven knowledge of financial reporting

  • Practical knowledge of Software Implementations

  • Well-founded grasp of month end closings

  • Cost Allocation experience preferred

  • General familiarity with Accounting Software Systems

  • Cost analysis experience required

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
