Robert Half Payroll Manager in Lenoir, North Carolina

Description Robert Half is looking to staff a Payroll Manager with our well-respected client! This Payroll Manager will be responsible for work on tax-related tasks, such as W2 forms, preparing reports and updating policies, and will help achieve standards that are necessary for growth within the financial department. This may be the role for you if you are a dynamic Payroll Manager with excellent communication, proven leadership, and are deadline driven.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise system upgrades and the processing of payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, raises)

  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports

  • Abide by relevant laws and internal policies

  • Liaise with auditors and manage payroll tax audits

  • Manage and train payroll clerks and assistants

  • Help create systems that process payroll account transactions, like salaries, benefits, garnishments, deductions, taxes and third-party payments

  • Coordinate timekeeping and payroll systems

  • Answer payroll-related questions and resolve issues

  • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and accounting teams Requirements - Knowledge of current payroll procedures and related laws

  • Excellent verbal, written, and social skills

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources or related field

  • 2+ years of proven leadership experience as a payroll manager or similar role

  • CPP, CPM, or other related professional certifications is a plus

  • Knowledge in compliance

  • Capacity to apply discretion and maintain a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive information

  • 5+ years of payroll experience

  • Leadership and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of multiple payroll applications

  • Superb understanding of multi-location payroll and taxes
