Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant in the construction industry, located in Lexington, Kentucky. The Sr. Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our company by managing daily accounting tasks. The successful candidate will be part of a team that is working to maintain order and transparency for the company’s finances.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the financial close process on a monthly basis.
• Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of balance sheets.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements in line with GAAP standards.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly reporting for executive management.
• Ensure account reconciliations are performed regularly and accurately.
• Foster an environment of growth and development for other individuals in the department.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Collaborate across departments, serving as a trusted business partner.
• Provide necessary documentation and support during the external audit process.
• Support other accounting functions as necessary. Requirements
• Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Certification such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred.
• Must have a minimum of five years of experience in the field of accounting, preferably within the construction or contractor industry.
• Proficiency in account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, and bank reconciliations is required.
• Demonstrated experience with general ledger management and journal entries is necessary.
• Must possess advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with month-end close procedures is a must.
• Must be able to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members, management, and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail are crucial for this role.
• Familiarity with accounting software and databases is beneficial.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive financial information.
• Should have the ability to multi-task and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions based on financial data are necessary.
• Should be able to adapt to changing business needs and continuously improve processes.
