Robert Half International Controller/Accounting Manager in Lincoln, California

Controller/Accounting Manager candidates seeking to become part of a successful company will be interested in this opportunity through Robert Half Finance to take responsibility for an accounting and clerical department of a small Construction company. The Controller/Accounting Manager position is a full-time opportunity in the Lincoln, California region. Candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions in a Construction environment, including job costing, WIP reporting, month end close as well as the preparation of financial statements, will be ideal for this role. Candidates who know how to effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services will do well in this role along with creative types who can lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo.

Major responsibilities

  • Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective company-wide operation

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the production of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual

  • Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis


  • Financial reporting experience required

  • Deep understanding of month end closings

  • Construction project accounting experience preferred

  • Job Cost experience required

  • Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Outstanding communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
