Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Linthicum, Maryland

Description

We are looking for a diligent Payroll Specialist to join our team in the Linthicum, Maryland area. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the payroll process, including handling W-2 and 1099 forms, maintaining an accurate electronic timesheet system, and assisting with the maintenance of relationships with internal and external auditors and federal agencies. This role offers a long term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the distribution and collection of timesheets each pay period.

• Ensure the calculation and accuracy of hours worked and wages to be paid.

• Assist in the corporate payroll process and liaise with the Payroll Manager.

• Help employees with clocking in/out, correct errors, and unlock accounts in HRIS.

• Generate daily reports to monitor employee attendance.

• Provide support to the Accounts Payable and Finance Associate as needed.

• Utilize settlement summaries to update loan officer's commission sheets.

• Prepare and distribute all Retail Branch payroll reports to Branch Managers.

• Ensure accuracy of Retail Branch payroll reports in the HRIS.

• Verify accuracy of settlement sheets and commission sheets before final approval.

• Manage payroll invoices submitted by Retail Branch Administration.

• Update changes in employee information such as tax and banking information as needed.

• Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other relevant payroll software.

Requirements • Demonstrable proficiency in Excel Formulas and Microsoft Excel, including VLOOKUP function

• Experience in managing W2 and Form 1099 documentations

• Proficiency in using ADP - Payroll and other Automated Payroll systems

• Prior experience in managing Benefits Payroll, bi-Monthly Payroll, and Full Cycle Payroll

• Familiarity with HR Payroll System

• Experience in managing Multi-state Payroll and Multistate Payroll

• Knowledge of Paychex Payroll, Payroll, Payroll for 101 - 500 Employees, and Payroll - Garnishments

• Proven skills in Payroll Management and Payroll software

• Ability to handle Payroll Tax Reporting and Payroll Taxes

• Knowledge of Deductions, Special Payroll Deductions, Voluntary Deductions, and Withholdings

• Experience in managing Approved Timesheets and Employee Timesheets

• Knowledge of industry regulations and guidelines within the mortgage sector

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred

• Professional certification in Payroll Management is a plus.
