Robert Half International Senior/Staff Accountant (Payroll) in Little Rock, Arkansas

Description

One of my clients, a very large privately held company in West Little Rock, is seeking a Payroll Accountant for their organization. This is a newly created position due to the growth of the organization that will report directly to the Controller to help take some workload off her plate. Payroll accountant will administer internal controls for the Payroll and Benefit Cycle and will also analyze trends, cost, and revenues for the organization. Duties would include:

· Work with the payroll team to ensure accurate payment of employees for bi-weekly and weekly cycles

· Review payroll monthly, quarterly and annually to ensure proper GL recording and accurate filing of tax returns to deadline

· Work with HR team to ensure successful configuration of HRIS system to facilitate annual Open Enrollment for Benefit Plans

· Stay informed of Federal and State changes to payroll laws to ensure corporate compliance

· Ensure successful completion of annual Retirement Plan Audit and 5500 Filing

· Work in Excel daily using advanced sorting techniques to reconcile various general ledger control accounts

· Assist with month end closing of the general ledger in accounting system

· Use financial data to prepare and record general ledger journal entries

· Analyze expense accounts and provide concise explanations for variances

Requirements:

· Bachelor’s in Accounting

· ADP Payroll experience highly preferred

· Strong Excel skills

· 2+ years of Accounting experience around areas of monthly financial statement preparation and payroll
