Robert Half System Administrator (AS400) in Little Rock, Arkansas
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced AS400 System Administrator to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of IBM iSeries (AS400) systems and be responsible for managing and maintaining the overall health and performance of our AS400 environment.
Key Responsibilities:
System Administration:
Install, configure, and maintain IBM iSeries hardware and operating system software.
Manage system resources, including memory, disk space, and CPU utilization.
Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues promptly.
Implement and maintain system security measures to protect sensitive data.
Perform regular system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls.
Application Support:
Install, configure, and maintain AS400-based applications.
Provide technical support to users for application-related issues.
Troubleshoot application performance problems and implement solutions.
Network Administration:
Configure and maintain network connectivity for AS400 systems.
Troubleshoot network-related issues affecting AS400 operations.
Project Management:
Participate in IT projects related to the AS400 environment, such as upgrades, migrations, and new implementations.
Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure smooth integration of AS400 systems with other IT infrastructure components.
Requirements
Strong understanding of IBM iSeries (AS400) operating system and hardware.
Experience with RPG, CL, and SQL programming languages.
Knowledge of network protocols and TCP/IP.
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
ITIL or other IT service management certifications (preferred).
