Description Robert Half is reviewing candidates for a renowned services company for an ambitious, determined Controller. In this leadership position, you will direct an accounting and clerical department. As the Controller, you will plan and direct all accounting operational functions, manage the accumulation and consolidation of financial information for internal and external financial statements, assess accounting and internal control systems, and guide departmental staff. Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required
Manage the creation of and monthly monitoring of the annual budget and forecasts
Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month
Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Assure client expectations are met by reviewing deliverables of self and team
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation
Ensure timely cash collection by driving the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques Requirements
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Excellent communication and organizational skills
7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Self-starter and strong ethical standards
Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Demonstrated ability to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
Financial analysis experience preferred
Expertise in US GAAP
Proficiency in Annual Financial Reporting
Well-founded grasp of Corporate Tax Compliance
Practical knowledge of Control Assessments
General familiarity with Corporate Tax Compliance
Solid understanding of GAAP Accounting
Proven knowledge of Trend Analysis
Experience with month end closings
Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
