Robert Half Contract Senior Accountant in Long Beach, California
Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a 6-month contract basis. The ideal candidate will have extensive accounting experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector, and will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, providing financial analysis and forecasts to support decision-making.
Grant Management: Oversee the financial aspects of grant management, including budgeting, tracking expenditures, and reporting to funders.
Audit Preparation: Lead the preparation for annual audits, including compiling necessary documentation and liaising with external auditors.
General Ledger Oversight: Manage and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled.
Internal Controls: Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard the organization’s assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as nonprofit-specific accounting requirements.
Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or efficiency improvements.
Team Leadership: Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Ad Hoc Projects: Perform additional accounting duties and special projects as assigned by management.
Requirements
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or equivalent certification is highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting role. Experience in the nonprofit sector is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, Blackbaud).
Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.
Leadership: Demonstrated leadership abilities and experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
