The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Long Beach, California region. This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Major responsibilities

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Review and revise deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations

  • Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection

  • Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Support Finance Department initiatives, including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, through research, planning and implementation, as needed

  • Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Assess, execute and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis

  • Give financial reports to executive committee and partners each month

Requirements - 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills

  • Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • Ability to effectively interact, verbally and in writing

  • Top notch analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

  • Vow to meet business deadlines

  • Practical knowledge of Audit Methodology

  • Good understanding of Financial Statement Audits

  • Wide ranging experience with Consolidated Financial Statements

  • Expertise in Annual Audited Financial Statements

  • Auditing experience

  • Earlier work involving Financial Statement

  • Well-founded grasp of Audit Functions

  • Foundational knowledge in Annual Internal Audit

  • Deep understanding of Annual External Audit

  • Proven knowledge of financial auditing

  • Quality experience with Analyze Financial Statements

  • Month end closings experience

  • General familiarity with Audit Management

  • Previous experience in public accounting is highly valued

  • Attention to detail and demonstrated ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
