Description We are offering a position for a Logistics Coordinator based in Long Beach, California. This role involves coordinating the shipment of goods between shippers and carriers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring timely delivery. The role requires exceptional communication, negotiation, and organizational skills, along with a deep understanding of the transportation and logistics industry.
Responsibilities:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with shippers, carriers, and clients.
• Understand clients' transportation needs and provide customized solutions.
• Handle client inquiries, complaints, and requests efficiently and professionally.
• Coordinate and manage the transportation of goods, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
• Select appropriate carriers based on shipment requirements, cost, and client preferences.
• Track and monitor shipments to ensure on-time delivery and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
• Negotiate rates with carriers to achieve competitive pricing.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of transactions and communications.
• Identify opportunities and competitive pricing in the transportation industry.
• Ensure all shipments comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation, including bills of lading, invoices, and customs documents.
• Stay informed about changes in transportation laws and regulations affecting the industry.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) and other software to manage and track shipments.
• Monitor and manage transportation rates, ensuring cost-effective operations.
• Review and approve carrier invoices, ensuring accuracy and adherence to agreed rates.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including sales, operations, and customer service, to meet client needs and company objectives.
• Provide support and guidance to entry level team members and assist in their detail oriented development. Requirements • Proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and ERP solutions
• Experience with IBM AS/400
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suites
• Knowledge of 'About Time' software
• Exceptional customer service abilities
• Familiarity with customs procedures and regulations
• Experience in coordinating and scheduling deliveries
• Ability to handle documentation effectively
• Understanding of Intermodel Logistics
• Experience in Logistics & Distribution and the Logistics Industry
• Ability to coordinate logistics efficiently
• Knowledge of Bill of Materials (BOM)
• Experience with invoice handling
• Proficiency in providing Freight Quotes, managing Freight, and understanding Freight Costs
• Familiarity with legal and ethical guidelines in logistics and distribution
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
