Description
Are you motivated, with attention to detail? This growing company is hiring a Medical Collections Specialist with strong behavioral health skills. The Medical Collections Specialist will be tasked with following up with insurance rendered regarding denials and rejections. The Medical Collections Specialist must be well versed with Medi-Cal, HMO, PPO and Government insurance. The right person for this role must have at least 3 years of medical insurance collections experience.
Your responsibilities in this role
Contacting insurance companies via phone and online
Send notices to insurance companies and patients for request for payment
Appeals and denials management
Contacting and following up insurance companies daily to resolve outstanding claims issues.
Report any identified billing issues that result in non-collection to the manager.
Identity common denial errors.
Behavioral Health or DMH is a big plus but not a must
Requirements - Previous experience working with a healthcare practice management system preferred
A real talent for the explanation of benefits (EOBs)
Medical appeals experience
Adeptness in Medi-Cal
Medical denials experience
Experience with behavioral health
Demonstrated knowledge of HMO PPO
Knowledge of medical collections
Solid understanding of medical billing
Minimum of 3+ years of prior healthcare collections experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
High School diploma or equivalent required
Strong communication skills and able to receive criticism well
