Description

Robert Half is working with an established company in the construction & design industry. We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Part-Time Bookkeeper to support the Controller. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with accounts payable and receivable, payroll processing, and helping prepare financial reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience in the construction industry, and proficiency in financial software.

Key Responsibilities:

General Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger entries and reconciliations.

  • Process and record accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions.

  • Reconcile bank statements and ensure all transactions are recorded properly.

  • Maintain and update financial documentation and filing systems.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

  • Verify, code, and enter vendor invoices.

  • Manage the payment process, including check runs and ACH payments.

  • Prepare and send customer invoices and follow up on overdue payments.

  • Reconcile customer and vendor statements.

Compliance & Administrative Support:

  • Help ensure compliance with construction industry-specific tax and regulatory requirements.

  • Assist with lien waivers, insurance certificates, and contractor documentation as needed.

  • Provide administrative support to the Controller on special projects.

    Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a bookkeeper, preferably within the construction industry.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles and procedures.

  • Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar platforms).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Familiarity with construction-specific financial practices, including job costing and progress billing (preferred).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Knowledge of construction industry regulations and tax requirements.

  • Experience with payroll processing and tax filings.
