Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk at our mental health clinic. The ideal candidate will be committed to ensuring that patient records are accurately and securely processed, protected, and maintained.
Responsibilities:
Compile, process, and maintain patient’s records in a healthcare setting.
Ensure patient record privacy by following established standards, including HIPAA.
Retrieve medical records when requested by healthcare professionals or patients.
Check records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations.
Use Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for the management and storage of patient records.
Index all patient encounters timely and accurately into the EHR system.
Respond to requests for medical records, both within the facility and by external sources, retrieving them and transmitting them appropriately.
Regularly audit files for accuracy and completeness.
Requirements
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Subsequent qualification in healthcare or relevant field is a plus.
Proven experience as a medical records clerk.
Proficiency in using computer systems and software (such as Microsoft Office Suite and EHR systems).
Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA regulations.
Excellent organization and multitasking skills.
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
Respect for confidentiality and discretion.
