Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Los Angeles, California
Description
We are seeking a Payroll Specialist for a long term contract employment opportunity in the non-profit industry. The position is based in Los Angeles, 90056, and will involve managing payroll processes, maintaining employee records, and ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities:
• Handle end-to-end payroll processing, including timekeeping, data entry, and accurate calculation of wages and deductions.
• Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure compliance and implement necessary policy and procedure changes.
• Maintain accurate payroll records, which includes employee details, time and attendance logs, and tax withholdings.
• Generate regular and ad-hoc payroll reports for management and other departments as required.
• Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate processing of employee benefits and deductions.
• Assist with internal and external payroll audits to ensure the financial integrity of the organization.
• Identify and implement best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy in payroll operations.
• Address payroll-related inquiries, providing exceptional support to employees.
• Utilize accounting software systems and financial services such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, Dayforce, and 401k - RRSP Administration for various accounting and benefit functions.
• Conduct auditing of payroll processes to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Requirements • Proficient in accounting software systems
• Familiar with ADP - Financial Services and ADP Workforce Now
• Experience with Ceridian and Dayforce systems
• Knowledge in 401k - RRSP Administration
• Familiarity with About Time software
• Ability to perform accounting functions effectively
• Auditing skills and experience
• Knowledge of benefit functions
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Previous experience in a similar role in a non-profit organization is a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Proven problem-solving skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
