Robert Half Senior Accountant in Los Angeles, California

Description

Robert Half is working with a national non-profit to help them in their search for a contract to hire senior accountant position. The Senior Accountant will play a critical role in managing the financial activities of our organization. This includes overseeing general accounting, financial reporting, and grant accounting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in non-profit accounting, proficiency in Financial Edge accounting software, and a strong understanding of grant accounting. This role is based on site in Los Angeles and would require a candidate to be in office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger functions.

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.

  • Manage the accounting for grants, including tracking grant expenses, preparing grant budgets, and ensuring compliance with grantor requirements.

  • Conduct financial analysis and provide recommendations to senior management to support decision-making.

  • Coordinate and support the annual audit process, including preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor requests.

  • Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures.

  • Assist with the preparation of the annual budget and monitor budget performance throughout the year.

  • Collaborate with program managers and other staff to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

  • Utilize Financial Edge accounting software to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

  • Provide training and support to junior accounting staff as needed.

    Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the non-profit sector.

Proficiency in Financial Edge accounting software is required.

Strong knowledge of grant accounting, including experience with federal and state grants.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

High level of integrity and commitment to ethical standards.

Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in work.

Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
