Description
Our non-profit entertainment client is in search of a Staff Accountant on a temp to hire basis. The Staff Accountant is in charge of utilizing accounting principles and procedures to examine financial information, generate precise and timely financial statements and reports, and maintain the necessary accounting control procedures.
Key Responsibilities for Staff Accountant Position:
Directly utilizing accounting principles and procedures to review and interpret financial data for our non-profit entertainment client.
Generating accurate and timely financial reports and statements.
Implementing and upholding appropriate accounting control procedures.
Ensuring prepared operational data's integrity and accuracy, inclusive of things like general ledger reconciliations, financial statements, bank reconciliations, journal entries, audit schedules, accrual schedules, cash transfer instructions, and A/P vouchers on a monthly basis.
Maintaining financial records strictly in accordance with accepted policies and procedures.
Ensuring timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes.
Resolving accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Demonstrating ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance is required.
Being receptive to developmental guidance and direction from supervisors.
Able to work effectively with all levels within the organization.
Ready to perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Required Skills and Abilities:
Proficient understanding of finance and accounting principles.
Familiarity with automated financial and accounting reporting systems, preferably Blackbaud Financial Edge NXT.
Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
Proven ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
Familiarity with investment reporting and non-profit accounting and reporting is an asset.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent communication and analytical aptitude.
Capable of planning and organizing workload.
Strong judgment and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and accounting software.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
Two to three years of experience in an entry-level to staff-level accounting position is preferred.
