Robert Half Surgery Medical Billing Collections Specialist in Los Angeles, California

Description We are in search of a diligent Surgery Medical Billing Collections Specialist to join our healthcare team in Los Angeles, California. This role entails full cycle billing and collection functions for surgical detail oriented fees in a medical setting. The individual will be expected to verify patient eligibility, resolve denials, and conduct daily reviews of medical documentation. This role offers a contract to permanent employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

• Carrying out full cycle billing and collection functions for surgical detail oriented fees

• Verifying patient eligibility, authorization status, and primary payer information prior to claim submission

• Undertaking data entry and charge posting functions for services as required

• Conducting third party follow-up functions for all products and surgical procedures

• Reviewing EOBs and Denials, making corrections as required, and resubmitting the claim for payments

• Regularly working on the Athena Work Dashboard / Claim list for all assigned services

• Reviewing daily provider chart notes from Urgent Care to ensure documentation is complete and supportive of submitted charges prior to billing

• Providing the correct ICD-100M code to identify the provider's narrative diagnosis

• Identifying medications and supplies using the correct HCPCS code

• Accurately identifying the services performed based on the provider's documentation by providing the correct CPT code

• Reviewing all surgical operative reports and assigning appropriate CPT codes and tCD-10-CM codes for services performed by staff surgeons Requirements • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Billing/Claims/Collections

• Proficiency in Medical Billing and Medical Collections

• Demonstrated expertise in Ambulatory Surgery and Surgery procedures

• Experience in resolving Medical Denials

• Proficient in Charge Entry processes within the healthcare industry

• Ability to handle Medical Appeals effectively and efficiently

• Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills

• Proven ability to maintain confidentiality in handling sensitive patient information

• Proficiency in using medical software and computer systems

• Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
