Robert Half Cost Accountant in Louisville, Kentucky

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Cost Accountant in Louisville, Kentucky, 40214-4903, United States. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including month-end closing duties, maintaining routings and structures within the ERP system, and preparing inventory part costings. This role is critical to our team's ability to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis at the gross margin level.

Responsibilities:

• Handle month-end closing duties, reconciliations, and analysis related to inventory and the income statement to the gross margin level, including standard cost of sales and variances.

• Manage and maintain routings and structures within the ERP system, and inventory part master.

• Work closely with all relevant departments to ensure accurate and timely updates related to product changes.

• Prepare inventory part costings for new products or for sales quotations.

• Collaborate with manufacturing to develop relevant metrics to measure manufacturing performance.

• Provide support and guidance to relevant departments to assist them in understanding and improving costs and margins.

• Take the lead in considering and introducing new costing methodologies in support of initiatives such as Lean Manufacturing.

• Assist with the compilation and analysis of the annual budget.

• Be flexible to work "off-hours" and have the ability to travel to other plant locations as needed.

• Handle backup responsibilities within the finance department for vacation/other absence coverage.

• Month End Close Requirements • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in cost accounting and cost analysis.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a cost accounting role.

• Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel for financial reporting and analysis.

• Experience with month-end close procedures and financial statement preparation.

• A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and in team settings.

• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.

• CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory.
