Director of Accounting in Madison - Hybrid schedule available!

The Director of Accounting will oversee the accounting department functions with a focus on ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of financial statements and reporting. The Director of Accounting generally has 2-3 direct reports and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies. The Director of Accounting is responsible for interviewing, hiring, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Director of Accounting Responsibilities:

• Prepares or assists in preparation of internal and external financial statements sent to lenders, investors and auditors.

• Performs technical research to ensure compliance with applicable accounting guidance.

• Recommend, design, and implement accounting policies and procedures.

• Lead the accounting team on special projects and ad hoc reporting as needed.

• Work with external auditors to assist with annual audit and financial statement preparation.

• Prepare and review audit schedules as needed.

• Ensure consistent accounting treatment among various business entities.

• Monitors and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, internal control procedures, and company policies.

• Other duties as assigned.
