We are currently seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to join our team. As a Surgery Scheduler, you will play a crucial role in facilitating surgical procedures, ensuring efficient scheduling, and providing support to our surgical staff and patients.

Position Overview:

The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for managing the scheduling of surgical procedures, coordinating with various departments, and ensuring that all necessary preparations are in place for successful surgeries. This role requires strong organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate with healthcare professionals and patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Surgery Scheduling:

  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures in collaboration with surgeons, operating room staff, and anesthesia providers.

  • Ensure the accuracy of surgery schedules, taking into account surgeon availability, operating room availability, and patient preferences.

  • Communicate with patients to confirm surgery dates and provide preoperative instructions.

Patient Coordination:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for patients scheduling surgeries, addressing their questions and concerns.

  • Facilitate the preoperative clearance process, including obtaining medical clearances, lab tests, and other necessary documentation.

  • Assist patients with obtaining insurance authorizations and verifying coverage.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic health records (EHR) for surgical patients.

  • Ensure all required documentation, consent forms, and surgical orders are complete and in compliance with hospital policies and regulations.

Communication and Information Sharing:

  • Communicate surgery schedules and updates to relevant departments, including anesthesia, nursing, and preoperative services.

  • Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesiologists to coordinate special equipment or preferences for specific cases.

    Requirements

  • Previous experience in healthcare scheduling, preferably in a hospital or surgical setting.

  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and scheduling software.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and collaborative healthcare environment.
