My client is looking for a reliable Manager of Benefits and Retirement to manage all employee benefit programs in their company from leave of absence to retirement plans. Your work will be of utmost importance since the correct processing and distribution of benefits is vital for employee retention and satisfaction.

The goal is to ensure all benefit programs are managed properly to maintain and enhance employee satisfaction.


  • Lead strategic initiatives related to plan design or carriers, benefits costs and improving processes.

  • Manage implementation and administration of employee benefit programs such as health insurance, disability insurance, life insurance, critical illness, employee assistance and other related plans.

  • Accountable for the design, administration and overall management of company's retirement programs which include a defined contribution and defined benefit plans.

  • Continually review relevance of time off (illness, vacation, personal, etc.) programs.

  • Manage the short term absence and long term program and vendor relationships.

  • Lead the annual review of benefit, time off and retirement plans including monitoring of trends, best practice, utilization and cost/benefit analysis to recommended opportunities for enhancements.

  • Manage vendor relations and performance through service level agreements, usage and trend reports, conducting performance meetings, and ensuring compliance with plan provisions.

  • Develop an employee communication strategy in order to provide information, increase awareness and understanding of benefit and retirement plans.

  • Participate in business projects by representing the Total Rewards team. Actively engage in the design, formation, implementation and execution of project initiatives aligned to business strategy.

  • Requires a minimum of a university degree in Human Resources

  • detail oriented designation in Certified Benefits detail oriented is preferred

  • A minimum of 8 years' experience in benefits, particularly with insured benefits and retirement plans than include defined contribution retirement program and defined benefit pension plans

  • Must have 1-2 years of management experience in coaching/leading a team

  • Ability to read and interpret plan documents, government regulations, benefit policies and guidelines and a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of legislation pertaining to benefit programs

  • Proficient PC skills that include Work, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Familiarity with HRIS is an asset

  • Proven project and change management skills

  • Strong ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization and ability to influence stakeholders
