Robert Half Plant Controller in Marne, Michigan

Description

We are seeking a Plant Controller based in the Walker, Michigan area. This role centers around overseeing the financial operations of the company and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. The primary duties will include financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and managing accounting functions. The role also involves providing strategic financial guidance to senior management to support decision-making processes.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement

• Develop annual budgets and periodic forecasts in collaboration with department heads and senior management

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger

• Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, tax laws, and accounting standards

• Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies during audits and inspections

• Provide financial analysis and insights to support strategic decision-making processes

• Evaluate investment opportunities, capital expenditures, and other financial initiatives

• Collaborate with senior management to develop long-term financial strategies and business plans

• Lead and mentor the accounting and finance team, providing guidance and support to foster professional growth

• Develop, lead, and execute projects, programs, and processes that will help drive overall company profitability

• Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records through regular review and reconciliation

• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and prevent fraud or errors.

Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment

• Proven expertise in Accounting Functions and General Ledger

• Proficiency with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Familiarity with Budget Processes and Capital Management

• Experience with Month End Close and GAAP Accounting

• Knowledge of Budgeting and Forecasting techniques

• Understanding of Standard Costing and Inventory Controls

• Demonstrated management and leadership skills

• Ability to prepare Financial Statements

• Experience with Federal Taxes

• Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel

• A CPA or CMA certification would be considered a plus.
