Robert Half Desktop Support Administrator in MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa


Desktop Administrator is expected to provide the high-level problem solving and support skills for computer hardware, software and smart devices. They will be responsible for installing new and maintaining existing computer systems and mobile\smart devices. They should also be able to provide education to staff in use of equipment.

Job Functions:

  • Knowledge and experience in managing server, network, and wireless infrastructure.

  • Knowledge and experience in managing end user systems to minimize downtime and hands on visits to workstations.

  • Ability to accurately managing IT asset inventory and software licensing compliance.

  • Performing hardware repair and maintenance.

  • Identifying and addressing complex usability problems.

  • Ability to efficiently manage the deployment of a significant number of desktops/laptops by using industry standard tools, like LANDesk, Active Directory, Service Now, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, MS Systems Center Configuration Manger, OSD, MDT, DameWare, and similar tools to minimize trouble calls, security risks, and in-person visits to workstations.

  • Knowledge of data networking wired and wireless.

  • Demonstrable ability to effectively document procedures and IT systems.

  • The candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, phone skills, planning and prioritizing skills.

  • Organizational and time management skills to accommodate changing workload and multiple priorities are required.

  • Must be a self-motivator and have the initiative to work independently.

  • Must have great interpersonal skills to maintain a good working relationship with users and department personnel.


  • Looking for individuals with 2-4 years of Desktop/ Help Desk Support experience.

  • Must have great customer skills and the ability to work with all levels of stakeholders from an administrative professional to a VP and SVP.

  • Support client end IP phones, computers, reimages, specialty builds

  • Basic networking understanding – this team is the hands to flip a switch, deal with access points, reboot servers)

  • DameWare or similar experience for remote access, highly desired.
