Robert Half Payroll Specialist in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania

Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team. The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations, and providing excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for [number] employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and legal requirements.

  • Calculate and process special payroll actions, such as bonuses, commissions, overtime, and adjustments.

  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of payroll data to the payroll provider.

  • Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and ensure compliance.

  • Prepare and submit payroll tax reports and payments, including quarterly and annual filings.

  • Generate and distribute W-2 forms and other year-end reporting documents.

  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and resolve any issues or discrepancies promptly.

  • Assist employees with payroll-related forms and provide guidance on payroll policies and procedures.

  • Conduct payroll orientation for new hires and provide ongoing payroll education.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee information, timesheets, and payroll changes.

  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of payroll-related documents.

  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

  • Collaborate with HR and IT departments to maintain and update the payroll system.

  • Test and implement system upgrades or changes to ensure smooth payroll processing.

    Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in payroll processing.

  • Experience with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday).

  • Strong understanding of payroll practices, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
