The full-time Controller position is situated in the Melville, New York area. You will succeed in this position if you can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. Your responsibilities in this role
Work closely with executive team and partners to ensure that firm-wide operation is efficient and effective
Research, plan and implement Finance Department initiatives including software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as needed
Perform duties beyond formal job responsibilities
Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations
Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis
Prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, daily cash management
Handle monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis
Manage finance department operations, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll
Assess, execute and improve policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies
Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners
Drive the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to ensure the timely cash collection Requirements - Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field
Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations
Prior work done in public accounting is desired
Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferred
High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills
15+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
Ability and willingness to meet business critical deadlines
Command of Accounting Entries
Solid understanding of account analysis
Deep understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Accounts Receivable (AR) experience
Experience with accruals
Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required
