This Staff Accountant role's duties will require preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll be interested in this position if you want to perform internal reporting during the monthly close, participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules reporting processes. This is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity in the Memphis, Tennessee area, at a company where effort is rewarded. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented and analytical thinker with a talent for creating Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets.
Responsibilities
Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Maintain fixed asset ledgers, depreciation, and reconciliation
Prepare analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for management to report on
Arrange schedules for capital lease and monthly payments
Conduct month end close and compose journal entries with minimal supervision
Regular maintenance and reconciliation of journal entries
Handle intercompany transactions, billings, and reconciliation
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
Assist in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Assemble journal entries and thorough account reconciliations that include, but are not limited to, cash, prepaid expenses, and payroll
Become well-versed in month end balance sheet account reconciliations
Ad hoc reporting and performing special projects upon request
Organize and review various financial data, then report it in a manner that is useful and understandable Requirements - Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Ability to handle multiple projects within strict deadlines
Current and relevant ERP system experience
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
Strong analytical skills, with the ability to exercise good judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Be detailed, flexible, and organized
Deep understanding of budget forecasting
General ledger experience
Command of budgeting
