This position is for candidates who can plan and direct all accounting operational functions, handle the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluate accounting and internal control systems, and lead departmental staff. This role's duties will require leading with integrity and reliability and having the ability to manage self and others with urgency, practicality and accountability when providing client services. This permanent position is for a Controller who will work in the Memphis, Tennessee region.

Your responsibilities

  • Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required

  • Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor on a monthly basis

  • Direct finance department activities, such as accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll

  • Flexible in completing tasks beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Present monthly financial reports to executive committee and partners

  • Responsible for month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis

  • Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies

  • Handle daily cash management and produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals

  • Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation

  • Analyze deliverables of self and team to confirm they meet client expectations

  • Time monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is punctual Requirements - Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities

  • Adeptness in construction project accounting

  • Company Revenue Recognition experience required

  • Financial statement preparation experience highly preferred

  • Commercial Construction Projects experience

  • Background working with change management

  • Construction Industry experience highly desired

  • Practical knowledge of month end closings

  • General familiarity with Process Improvement

  • Proficiency in Construction Accounting

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Job Cost

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Process Improvement

  • Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired

  • Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines

  • Demonstrated ability in exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • CPA/MBA preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred

  • Attentive, ability to work independently and prioritize tasks

  • Prior work done in public accounting is desired

  • Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds

  • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment
