Robert Half Staff Accountant in MEMPHIS, Tennessee

Based in the Memphis, Tennessee area, this exciting long-term contract / contract / temporary opportunity is set in an engaging work place where hard work is rewarded. As Staff Accountant, your duties will include preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. This position will require a time commitment, since it produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you'll also be charged with various aspects of internal reporting. You'll also be involved in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

Key responsibilities

  • Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

  • Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

  • Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules

  • Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

  • Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process

  • Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

  • Perform month end close, journal entries with minimum supervision

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for management reporting

  • Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner

  • Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments Requirements - Ability to meet deadlines

  • Recent and relevant accounting experience

  • Be detailed, flexible, and organized

  • Foundational knowledge in GAAP Accounting

  • Journal entries experience preferred

  • Strong familiarity with bank reconciliations

  • General ledger experience desired

  • Experience with ERP systems

  • Skilled in analytical, quantitative and social skills

  • Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems

  • Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working in a dynamic and changing company environment a plus

  • BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics

  • Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

  • Competent with spreadsheets and databases
