Robert Half Staff Accountant in Memphis, Tennessee
Description The Professional Services company Robert Half is searching for an efficient Staff Accountant to join their growing team on a permanent basis. The Staff Accountant will prepare journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. You will also be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will lend your skills in assisting the development and implementation of accounting policies. In addition, you will review schedules for the reporting processes, take part in compliance, and interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. This position plays an intricate part in producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Major responsibilities
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Implement, maintain, and adhere to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Partake in a variety of department-wide initiatives
Perform the month end close and produce journal entries under minimal supervision
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Support the month end, quarter end and year end closing process by preparing monthly financial close workbooks
In-depth experience with reconciling month end balance sheet accounts
Recurring journal entries maintenance and reconciliation
Produce analyses for monthly balance sheets and income statements for reporting by management
Organize and review a variety of financial data, reporting it in a way that is useful and understandable
Upon request, take part in special projects and impromptu reporting
Oversee depreciation, fixed asset ledgers, and reconciliation
Manage intercompany reconciliation, billings, and transactions Requirements - Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Proven analytical skills - defining problems, collecting relevant data, drawing valid conclusions, and recommending improvement/corrective actions
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Current and relevant ERP system experience
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Month-end Close Activities experience desired
Knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)
Deep understanding of Accounts Receivable (AR)
Foundational knowledge in bank reconciliations
Prepare Financial Statements experience highly desired
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Recent and relevant accounting experience
